At bookmystay, we understand that plans can change. Our goal is to make the cancellation and refund process as clear and fair as possible for both our guests and our hosts. This policy outlines how cancellations are handled and when refunds apply for bookings made through our platform.

1. Understanding Our Policy

bookmystay acts as a platform connecting guests with hosts. While we facilitate bookings and payments, the specific cancellation and refund terms for each property are primarily set by the individual host and are displayed on their respective Listing page.

By making a booking on bookmystay, you agree to the cancellation policy set forth by the host for that specific listing. Please review this policy carefully before confirming your reservation.

2. Host-Specific Cancellation Policies

Each host on bookmystay can choose from a range of standard cancellation policies to apply to their listings. These typically include:

  • Flexible: Full refund if cancelled within a certain number of days (e.g., 24-48 hours) before check-in. After that, usually a partial refund or no refund.
  • Moderate: Full refund if cancelled within a longer period (e.g., 7 days) before check-in. Within that period, usually a 50% refund up to check-in, or no refund for very late cancellations.
  • Strict: Limited or no refund, especially for cancellations made close to the check-in date. A full refund might only be available for cancellations made within a very short window after booking.
  • Non-Refundable: No refund will be provided regardless of when the cancellation is made.

Important: The exact terms of each policy, including specific timelines and percentages, will be clearly stated on the Listing page under the “Cancellation Policy” section. It is your responsibility to read and understand this policy before proceeding with a booking.

3. How to Cancel a Booking (For Guests)

To cancel a confirmed booking:

  1. Log in to your bookmystay account.
  2. Go to “My Bookings” or “Trips.”
  3. Select the booking you wish to cancel.
  4. Follow the prompts to initiate the cancellation.

Once you submit a cancellation request, the date and time of the request will be recorded and used to determine the applicable refund based on the host’s policy.

4. Refund Process

  • If your cancellation qualifies for a refund under the host’s policy, bookmystay will process the refund to the original payment method used for the booking.
  • Refunds typically take 5-10 business days to appear in your account, depending on your bank or payment provider.
  • Please note that any service fees charged by bookmystay may be non-refundable, even if the booking itself qualifies for a full refund, depending on the timing of the cancellation. This will be clearly stated at the time of cancellation.

5. Host Cancellations

In rare instances, a host may need to cancel a confirmed booking. If a host cancels your booking:

  • bookmystay will notify you immediately.
  • You will receive a full refund of all amounts paid for that booking, including any bookmystay service fees.
  • bookmystay will also endeavour to help you find suitable alternative accommodation if available, though we cannot guarantee a replacement.

While we strive to ensure host reliability, bookmystay is not liable for any additional costs or damages incurred by a guest as a result of a host’s cancellation.

6. Extenuating Circumstances

In certain rare and unforeseen circumstances (e.g., severe natural disasters, government-mandated travel restrictions, significant personal emergencies like death or serious illness), bookmystay may, at its sole discretion, allow for cancellations beyond the host’s standard policy. Evidence will be required, and each case will be reviewed individually. This policy is intended to protect both guests and hosts in truly unavoidable situations.

7. No-Shows

If a guest does not show up for a confirmed booking and does not cancel in advance, no refund will be issued. The entire booking amount will be forfeited to the host.

8. Disputes

If you believe a refund has been incorrectly calculated or if you have any disputes regarding a cancellation, please contact our customer support team within [e.g., 14 days] of the cancellation. We will review your case and work towards a fair resolution.

9. Changes to This Policy
